PRESS RELEASE
On April 21, 2008 FRANK WILEY, age 54, owner and operator of CANTON REHABILITATION SERVICES, INC., Canton, Mississippi, was sentenced in the United States District Court, Southern District of Mississippi, by District Court Judge Daniel P. Jordan. WILEY was sentenced to 37 months in prison, 3 years supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $4,568,560.00. On April 3, 2008 WILEY’S co-conspirator, MICHAEL YANT, pled guilty to one count of health care fraud. YANT will be sentenced June 23, 2008. WILEY and YANT were charged with thirty-six (36) counts of health care fraud and conspiracy charges associated with their ownership and operation of CANTON REHABILITATION SERVICES, INC. This health care clinic claimed to provide in-office physical therapy/physical medical services to Medicare and Medicaid patients in the Canton, Mississippi area. Frederick T. Brink, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Mississippi, and Tim Menke, Special Agent in Charge of the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG), agreed their Agents, prosecutors from the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi, and other federal and local agencies, worked well together to bring about the successful prosecution of the individuals involved in this complicated scheme to defraud the Medicare and Medicaid programs. |
