DRUG TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED; FACE LIFE SENTENCES
Two
Jackson County men have been arrested on federal drug trafficking charges.
An indictment unsealed today in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, charged
ROLANDO EFRAIN ROSALES, 47, a native of LaCeiba, Honduras, and SALOMON
QUINDO LOZANO, age 43, a native of Cali, Colombia with Conspiracy to Distribute
Cocaine and Possession With Intent to Distribute Cocaine. ROSALES was
arrested on June 3, 2007 in Moss Point and LOZANO was arrested in Pascagoula
on June 2, 2007, by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the
Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County.
Over the weekend, agents executed federal search warrants at ROSALES'
place of business, the Oxygen Club, located at 6007 Highway 90 East in
Moss Point, Mississippi and at his residence located at 2513 Honduras
Drive, Gautier, Mississippi. Agents seized 18 grams of cocaine and $25,552.00
in U.S. currency.
ROSALES and LOZANO are scheduled to have an initial appearance before
United States Senior Magistrate Judge John M. Roper, United States District
Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, Gulfport, Mississippi
on June 4, 2007 at 2:30 pm. If convicted, they face penalties of up to
life in a federal prison and $4,000,000.00 in fines.
The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking
Area (HIDTA) initiative and receives funding from the Office of National
Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C. It is made up of Special Agents
from the FBI and law enforcement officers from the Pascagoula, Moss Point,
Gautier, and Ocean Springs Police Departments, the Jackson County Sheriff's
Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Frederick T. Brink, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Mississippi,
stressed that arrests are accusations only and there is a presumption
of innocence prior to any judicial proceeding.
