Two Jackson County men have been arrested on federal drug trafficking charges. An indictment unsealed today in U.S. District Court in Gulfport, charged ROLANDO EFRAIN ROSALES, 47, a native of LaCeiba, Honduras, and SALOMON QUINDO LOZANO, age 43, a native of Cali, Colombia with Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine and Possession With Intent to Distribute Cocaine. ROSALES was arrested on June 3, 2007 in Moss Point and LOZANO was arrested in Pascagoula on June 2, 2007, by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County.

Over the weekend, agents executed federal search warrants at ROSALES' place of business, the Oxygen Club, located at 6007 Highway 90 East in Moss Point, Mississippi and at his residence located at 2513 Honduras Drive, Gautier, Mississippi. Agents seized 18 grams of cocaine and $25,552.00 in U.S. currency.

ROSALES and LOZANO are scheduled to have an initial appearance before United States Senior Magistrate Judge John M. Roper, United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, Gulfport, Mississippi on June 4, 2007 at 2:30 pm. If convicted, they face penalties of up to life in a federal prison and $4,000,000.00 in fines.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative and receives funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C. It is made up of Special Agents from the FBI and law enforcement officers from the Pascagoula, Moss Point, Gautier, and Ocean Springs Police Departments, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Frederick T. Brink, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Mississippi, stressed that arrests are accusations only and there is a presumption of innocence prior to any judicial proceeding.
