As a result of a year long investigation conducted by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force in Pascagoula, Mississippi, EDMOND C. BROWN, aka "Nicki", age 36, of Moss Point, Mississippi, was arrested on June 13, 2007 in Theodore, Alabama.

BROWN is charged with PossessionWith Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine. If convicted, he faces penalties of up to life in a federal prison and $4,000,000 in fines. At the time of BROWN's arrest, Agents with the Safe Streets Task Force, assisted by officers with the Mobile Police Department, seized a .30 caliber carbine rifle and a .38 caliber derringer pistol, both of which had been reported stolen in Mobile, Alabama. Agents also seized a Chevrolet Impala SS and a Ford Expedition.

Frederick T. Brink, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI in Mississippi, stated that BROWN had an initial appearance before United States Senior Magistrate Judge John M. Roper, United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, Gulfport, Mississippi, on June 14, 2007. BROWN was ordered detained pending a Detention Hearing set for June 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, Gulfport, Mississippi.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative and receives funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington, D.C. It is made up of Special Agents from the FBI and law enforcement officers from the Pascagoula, Moss Point, Gautier, and Ocean Springs Police Departments, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

SAC Brink stressed that arrests are accusations only and there is a presumption of innocence prior to any judicial proceeding.
