MADISON MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR LURING CHILD Gulfport , Mississippi - United States Attorney Dunn Lampton announced today that Stephen Randall Luxford, of Madison Mississippi, has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for using the internet to lure a child. Luxford pled guilty to one count of knowingly initiating the transmission of the name and telephone number of a child under 16 for the purpose of soliciting the child to engage in sexual activity on July 9, 2007. Luxford, who was indicted on April 4, 2007, met the child over the internet and later drove from his home in Madison to Gulfport to meet the child on two separate occasions. United States District Judge Louis Guirola, Jr sentenced Luxford on January 29, 2008 to five years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Luxford must also make restitution to the victim’s family in the amount of $14,000.00. This case was investigated by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys J. Scott Gilbert and Glenda Haynes.
